I apologise for being shouty, but goodness it’s nice to be home. Stinky and dusty, sure. A few days behind schedule, but still home.

What do you think? Better than this?

My hand up is for yes.

So it’s all over, you ask? We’ve moved the furniture back in? Life is normal again?

Not really…

You see, my husband is on a mission to get the complete job done right away. I understand his point because the builders left the state of our walls in what only can be described as a shambles. This means I’m going to pan our vision over to the aisles of Bunnings late Friday night where you’ll be able to see us fighting over sample paint colours with creepy names such as ‘Serenely Sepulchral’ or ‘Skeletal Dust’ (honestly, it feels like they do) while the kids play dodgems with the baby-sized trolleys and I keep looking around, waiting to be escorted by the elbow to the exit.

Of course, I exaggerate. They wouldn’t have done that on Friday. Bunnings did quite well out of our wallet. Brushes, sample pots, primers, and what-have-you.

It will look lovely, I kept telling myself. It will. Not long now.

As I type this, my fingers are still speckled with primer paint. On Saturday we went to Dulux to deliberate over the honeycomb wall of little coloured bricks and buy more supplies. Yesterday was spent cleaning and painting these onto our walls.

And we were stuffed.

For some background, we’ve not been well as a family for about ten days now – Adam particularly. So we’ve called in a helper today to give us a hand to get the job done. I can’t tell you how thankful and relieved this makes me. Otherwise we were staring down another weekend of… renovators paradise.

Oh, joy.

More photos later!
