I regularly have ABC2 on of a weekend afternoon. There they replay shows I usually miss during the week or recycle shows and music from the vaults of yore. Such was the case last Saturday afternoon when they were playing classic 80s music videos.

I was pleased to hear the introductory banjo strumming of “The Rainbow Connection” and immediately called the kids to come watch.

“Look! It’s the Muppets!” I said.

As the camera closed in on its subject, Riley said, “Look, mum, a frog!”

And indeed there was our long-loved little green friend.

“It’s not just any frog, it’s KERMIT” I said.

“Who’s Kermit?” askd Keira.

Call me gobsmacked.

great muppet caper

I think the kids need a little education into matters relating to muppets.

It’s time to hire The Great Muppet Caper*!

Time to watch Charles Grodin try to stop vomiting up into his throat whenever he has to be romantic towards Miss Piggy. Because that’s half the fun, right there.

(*Yes, I know that song isn’t from the TGMP but from The Muppet Movie. I just like TGMP more. I can’t believe I just wrote that.)
