Page Parlour 2010

Yesterday’s Page Parlour for the Emerging Writers’ Festival went splendidly. I apologise I don’t have more photos to post than the one above, but the iphone does not like low-light settings. I can put the ‘flash’ on Hipmastatic, but it has little affect on the overall result (it’s more of a ‘glaze’ than a true ‘flash’). I had lots of questions about Miscellaneous Voices from people curious about what I thought about the direction of reading/publishing. From what I could judge, people are a little nervous. They don’t like to think that the manner and way in which they read will be taken out of their hands; that there is a land to which we are inevitably headed where e-readers are king.

Then there were others who (like me) think that some sort of equilibrium will inevitably be struck – and for the better.

Clean shelves

Prior to that, Adam cleaned our bookshelves the other night (the photo is his).

“Look at our lovely, lovely shelves. Clean again! It makes me calmer – just the sight of that,” he sighed.

My workspace

But then I discovered how he was able to clean so quickly. He just lifted the refuse and dumped it on my workdesk.

Riiiiigghhhhtttt.
