Brief Notes:

I’ll admit I’ve never been a big Burt Lancaster fan, but From Here to Eternity made me see how I could be converted. I’ll also admit that when it finished I sat there and thought, “Is it just me? I wonder if anyone else was disappointed?” although, upon reflection, I realised it was cleverly constructed – using the setting of pre-Pearl Harbour Hawaii to set up the exploration of the hows and whys people keep a handle on their humanity (and individuality) during war. The performances were all excellent.

My sister has long badgered me to watch Zodiac, and now I can see why, and while we’re on a Downey Jnr note, let me just say: Chaplin? WOW. Amazing. His performance, especially as the elderly Chaplin, was spot on, voice and all.

Hot Fuzz was a bit of silly fun and Big Love made my eyes bulge in the first few episodes (no one warned me about all the sex! Not that I mind…)
