Look at it. I feel calmer already.

By the time you read this we’ll have (hopefully) checked in our luggage, passed through security screening (which one of us will undoubtedly set off), and be in the process of fending off requests for overpriced snacks or money to play the various arcade games and pinball machines between departure lounges.

That’s right. We’re on holidays.

I’ve not talked about going away because honestly I’ve not had time to sit down to think, let alone pack appropriately. Yes, I could be opening up a suitacase to find twenty pairs of socks and no swimmers. Who knows. I was too tired to check last night.

I’ll still be posting sporadically while I’m away and will also be giving 2011 some thought as to what I’ll be doing here on miscmum. Changes are afoot.

But first there are a few things I want to mention again (or mention for the first time ’cause I’m like that!)

  • The Westgarth Books blog has posted some photos from the Future Writers’ Festival last month.
  • Tickets are running out to register to come to the Aussie Bloggers Conference.
  • The same goes for the Everything You Need to Know About Publishing seminar weekend I’ll be speaking at on the 12/12.
  • Every year I do a Christmas Card Challenge. Normally I would’ve mentioned it by now (oops). This is how it works:
  • 1) Every person who has left a comment on this blog since last Boxing Day will get a (modest!) ‘seasons greetings’ email/e-card. The unused postage that would otherwise been spent on a Christmas card stamp will be pooled into a total amount.

(Why? Because I appreciate every one of you who comment, even if I don’t get to reply to every single one. This is my thanks
    .)

    2) Family and friends will receive the same email/e-card.

    3) Then on Christmas Eve (Australian Time) (all going well) they will be sent with the announcement of the total amount of money raised. I’ve been playing with a few plugins which will hopefully make the process of extracting an email list simpler than what I’ve done in the past of manually cutting and pasting… (Yes, really. Never make a job too easy – that’s my motto…)

If you decide to start a similar project, please let me know! I’d love to hear about it.

A reminder that this year’s Profits Pledge was the Australian Red Cross.

  • I think that’s all? Wish us a smooth flight! I’m not a good flyer!
