… are when you can stay up hours past your usual bedtime to get through the last third of I Capture The Castle, only to fall asleep anyway. So the next morning, to escape the family, you take yourself into the bathroom on the (true) pretext of having a shower, but first plop down on a towel on the tiles to find out what happens.

Except, oh dear, you forgot to shut the sliding door properly. The family become suspicious at your extended absence. Then, like that scene out of Signs, you see a finger being crooked around the edge of the door – instead from under the bottom – and then the jig is up. It’s opened.

“I thought you were showering!”

I looked up innocently. “I am.”

“You are not.”

“I will…” I grinned and closed my book. “… now. I’m done.”
