In the Buzz! game we have on the Playstation there is a segment called “Pass the Bomb”. Each contestant must answer a trivia question as quickly as possible before passing the bomb onto the next player, lest the bomb explode while you are still holding it. The last person left standing wins.

The other week, Keira and Riley modified this game to play in our hallway, holding a ball instead of a controller. Instead of the ball exploding, the first person to drop it lost, but that was not where they got their fun. Instead they enjoyed making up trivia questions to baffle each other. Of course, with her almost two years advantage over her brother, Keira did best:

“What country is Hawaii a state of?”

What? said Riley.

“Who is the hero in Sportacus?”

Sportacus!

Then, when Riley had the ball, he asked a question I was not expecting.

“In what year did poppy die?”

2007! said Keira, convinced she was correct.

“No!” said Riley. “It was… 2008.” Suddenly he looked uncertain.

No – 2007.

Before it broke out into an all-out argument, I stepped in.

“It was 2009, actually, guys.”

February 19th 2009.

While my plane flew in the sky, he died.

Two years ago, tomorrow.

There are days when I am fine. And then there are others when I’m not.
