As I mentioned on Wednesday, it’s Book Week and I thought it would be a good time to post how Keira went this year in the Victorian Premier’s Reading Challenge. (Here’s last year’s list.)

29 Marzollo, Jean; Wick, Walter (ill.) ~ I Spy Fun House: a Book of Picture Riddles
30 Meadows, Daisy; Ripper, Georgie (ill.) ~ Amy the Amethyst Fairy

Looking at this collection, I can note several things:

  • Apart from the Harry Potter’s – which I read to her – Keira managed these solo. Her reading has come along in great leaps this year.
  • She is at the point now where even she will admit that the Spot books are a bit easy, and were a list ‘filler’!
  • She has become a great fan of the ‘Rainbow Magic Fairies’ and ‘Go Girls’ series of books, beginning back when we were given Sleep Over in the swag bag from the Aussie Bloggers Conference.
  • I have my own personal favourites from among this group. I do admire Olivia’s precociousness, for example, and the playful inventiveness of the There are Cats in this Book.

Are your children doing this challenge or something similar, like the MS Readathon? Are they enjoying them? What are their favourite reads this year?
