Hola!
Well, let’s see: I’m dressed, I’ve eaten, I’ve put a load of washing on, I’ve gotten the kids off to school. I consider that progress.
Naturally, work of all kinds (blogging and writing) has been put on the backburner, and while I think I have either accounted for, or put off, everything I needed to do this week, there is a nagging part in my memory that is asking if I haven’t forgotten something…
Not that I’d be any good. Case in point: yesterday, I was in bed and a bird landed on the branch on the weeping cherry outside my window. As I lay there, I thought, “Bird… bird is… pretty.”
Oh, bravo *sarcastic clapping*
Adam stayed home to nurse me yesterday and play chauffeur to the kids. It was interesting to compare how our (accidental, I promise) styles of ‘Good Cop, Bad Cop’ crossed over in times of sickness. When I’m sick, I let the kids get away with stuff, so as to maintain my sanity (Playstation? Sure, go ahead!) whereas Adam puts the house in lockdown (Silence!). Riley lasted all day, right up until that tricky mid-afternoon slump, when suddenly he appeared at my side and protested vehemently about the Totalitarian Regime Of The Father.
“Whapptpisittsjwyy?” I asked, being roused from sleep. I coughed out my throat and started over. “What did you say?”
“I like the way you run things!” he said, throwing himself dejectedly over the end of the bed.
My son will win an Oscar one day, mark my words.
So! As I’ve not been around much this week, do fill me in on what I’ve missed, please. What great blog posts do I absolutely need to read? It’s been the week of certain Literary Awards and the Booker Prize Shortlist announcement, too. Must go catch up on those…
