In what may be a decision I’ll later regret, I have signed up to participate in both NaNoWriMo and NaBloPoMo.

What are these, you might ask?

NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month)

The objective of nanowrimo is deceptively simple: write 50,000 words of a novel over the course of a month (November). Those numbers broken down equal 1,667 words (approximately) per day. The objective isn’t greatness so much as foundation-raising productivity.

I’ve signed up for nanowrimo sporadically over the years and haven’t once finished. Here’s my excuse in 2009. The difference – I hope – this year will be that I actually have several projects I want to work on, they’re there waiting for my attention.

My handle over at the website is miscmum if you want to find/friend me. It is not the easiest site to navigate – and is getting worse, IMHO – but I’ll be popping in to log my word count.

NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month)

I did nablopomo in years 2007 and 2008, back when it was still an independent Ning network (these are the days when I feel like an old blogger). Now it is in the process of being absorbed by the BlogHer network. And look! My account is still there!

Nablopomo is pretty simple: blog every day for a month. Once it was just November to coincide with nanowrimo, now it can be all the time. I get exhausted even thinking about it.

But this year I thought what the hell. It’s been a few years. Why not give it another go?

I’ve put this badge in my sidebar if you want to join in nablopomo (whether officially or unofficially). I’m thinking of also settting up Mr Linky for the month for those who want to let me know if you’re doing it or not. I went over to the Mr Linky site the other day to look at some code and that forest green background? Put me in a time vortex. Holy hell. Now I really do feel old. Some things don’t change.

What about you? Are you participating in either? Or both?
