Today I thought I’d shine a little more of a spotlight on Miscellaneous Press’ new project. If you haven’t already seen it, the below is taken from here:
Miscellaneous Press is pleased to announce that submissions are open for An Equal Task: Celebrating Australian Women’s Writing.
Considerable debate and discussion continues to surround the subject of women who write. From recent comments by VS Naipaul and his opinions on the sentimental, limited range of women’s writing to the creation of The Stella Prize, an Australian literary award for women, it is clear that there are gaps to span and perceptions to challenge even now in the 21st Century.
An Equal Task: Celebrating Australian Women’s Writing invites submissions from Australian women who wish to explore the mysteries of this, at times, difficult vocation as we juggle all the other responsibilities of daily life. This collection will not have a formal theme as such, but submissions addressing the above issues will be preferred. Further suggestions include: life, work/play balance, spirituality, ambition, goals and careers.
People are sometimes quite surprised when they find out I’ve got a little publishing press. I think this because in some circles I’m more known for my blog work, and that is okay. My catalogue consists of two titles for which I have a fierce and abiding affection. They have sold well over the years.
Publishing is never a certain game and in these times one need only read the papers to see the industry overall is in a state of flux. However many, myself included, still retain optimistic about the future. There will always be need of stories and guidance; inspiration and instruction.
If anyone has any questions, do let me know. Also, if you wish to pass word of this project along your own networks, please do so.
Also! I have a special Christmas offer at the moment. Click here if you’d like to find out more.
If you are participating in NaBloPoMo leave your name and link URL for the day in Mr Linky. If you’ve blogged about your NaNoWriMo or PiBoIdMo experiences you are welcome to leave your link as well. Please only use the Linky for these reasons and a link back here would be appreciated.
