Keira made this Give Thanks turkey at Girl Guides. One of the things she adores about Guides is the exposure they’re given to other cultures, countries and customs and recently they talked about Thanksgiving. I arrived early to pick her up and was offered a piece of vegan pumpkin pie. It was nice – but couldn’t compare to the real deal I got at Thanksgiving in Canada in 1995.

Speaking of Canada, I’ve never, ever had salmon as good as I did when I was there. Ah, memories.

Anyway!

In case you can’t read it very well (she’s still working on her spelling) it says from left to right:

I am thankful for… having a home
I am thankful for… nature
I am thankful for… water
I am thankful for… air
I am thankful for… money
I am thankful for… living things
I am thankful for… gravity

When you break it down, they’re quite simple. We should all do the same, I think. Remember and acknowledge the basics. They’re important – she’s right.

Happy Thanksgiving to those of you who celebrate it x
