Without wanting to come off as sounding slack I’ve not blogged my recipe challenge recipes for the past few weeks because… well… I guess I was too slack. But I have been keeping up with the task.

Week Six: was this Chicken and Spinach Lasagne from Taste.

Week Seven: is this week, and I’ve scraped in by a nose by starting the Christmas Pudding today. My friend gave me her recipe and her pudding pot to cook it (thank you, E). Here’s the fruit soaking a little while ago:

This is my first attempt at baking a full-on Christmas Pudding. Adam kindly went to the supermarket yesterday to buy the ingredients and swears he practically had to strong-arm a packet of glace cherries off an old woman in the baking aisle because people were there in last-minute, desperate shopping frenzies. Kind of like zombies chasing fresh meat, but these guys were after mixed fruit.

Then we went to buy the port, sherry and rum (you can tell we don’t drink much) and then Adam declared that this must be the Most Expensive Recipe I’ve Ever Attempted To Cook And It Better Taste Delicious, No Pressure Or Anything.

I’m sure it will be terrific because the kitchen now smells like a distillery. I’m going to go hang out there after I sign out of here. Mmm… Fumes. Smell Good.
