This year I’m an ambassador for the MILO Play Movement. I chose to become involved in this campaign because I’ve been thinking a lot about how the kids play and how perhaps I can assist and facilitate how they go about it. I had an entire conversation the other day with someone where I added a year on to the kids’ actual ages and didn’t realise until it was over. That’s how fast time is moving. It makes me realise – and get a little wistful – about how short and crucial these developing years are.
This said, the kids are getting better at making up games, some serious, some silly. I sat down to do a video about active play with them but before we started filming they got another idea about asking me questions about how I played as a kid (“That was a long, long time ago, wasn’t it mum?”). It kind of put me on the spot because I had to think Well, what did I do?.You’ll see below.
(Again, the cat attempts to ruin the show. First seen here.)
Have you ever had a conversation with your children about how you played as a child? Is it very different to what they’re doing?
