spiced treacle cookies

Ingredients

75g butter, chopped
1/3 cup treacle
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
3/4 cup plain flour
1/2 cup self-raising flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon mixed spice
1 tablespoon brown sugar, extra

Method

Preheat oven to 140C (fan-forced). Grease oven trays; line with baking paper.
Combine butter, treacle and sugar in medium saucepan; stir over low heat until smooth.Cool 5 minutes.
Stir in sifted flour and spices.
Roll rounded teaspoons of mixture into balls, place about 5cm apart on trays; flatten slightly. Sprinkle with combined nuts and extra sugar.
Bake about 20 minutes. Cool on trays.
