Friday Celebrations

In all honesty, I don’t feel like celebrating. If you read yesterday’s post, you’ll know why. I’ve sat down to try and work these few days and my thoughts vaporise like frost in the morning sunshine. But as I stepped outside my door this morning to take the kids to school I looked up and snapped the above photograph from my driveway. After a nasty few days of wind and cloud, it was nice to see blue skies again. Then the thought crossed my mind, you should celebrate that, even if it’s a small thing – maybe especially the small things.

Like Keira coming third place in the high jump at her school athletics, finally placing after years of entering and trying in events. She pulled back her school jumper to reveal that skinny green ribbon with such a proud, satisfied and, also, I think, relieved, look on her face. I grabbed her and hugged her and said, well done, over and over, before she launched into an epic retelling of the day. I was just so happy for her.

So I’m going to hold on to that happiness. Hold it and not let go. There will be no links this week. I’m going to take solace in family and friendship. I hope you do too x
