This year-long Friday celebrations series is my way of documenting the good things that have passed my way during the week and being mindful of these, and more.
Have you heard of Myotherapy? Ever tried it? I had my first appointment this week, in the hope of working through some Fibromyalgia issues that have decided to flare up again. It was strange, I went in for my back and she ended up concentrating a lot of her time working on my neck to help with my shallow breathing. Sounds weird, right? But it worked. Or it must’ve done something because the areas she’s worked on are quite sore and stiff now.
In the waiting room, there was this display, along with the usual glasses of water. I thought it was very smart to offer the sample (available for purchase, of course) with minimal fanfare or obligation. This gentle marketing is great for people like me who aren’t big peppermint tea drinkers to think, “It’s free! Why not!?” Even better – I liked this one.
Other wins this week:
- Keira had a high school interview. High school. I can’t believe I’m even typing those words! It’s still over a year away, but preparations have already begun! I’m determined to be better organised about it than I was for enrolling her in primary school. I think I was in denial leading up to that, rocking back and forth chanting, “My baby! My baby’s not old enough!”
- Riley had dental surgery back in February (which I briefly mention here) and, among other procedures, a space maintainer was put in for a removed tooth. The dentist thought it would be in place for the next 12+ months – that was until we went for the six-month check up this week and Riley piped up with, “I feel a new tooth there!” The dentist checked and, staggered, confirmed this was correct. So out came the space maintainer! In hindsight, did we need it? Probably not! But I won’t think about that… or the hundreds of dollars we could’ve saved! I’m just thankful all is well.
- In his usual succinct, but powerful, way, Seth Godin wrote a timely – for me – post entitled ‘After you’ve done your best work‘.
- Maria at Brainpickings linked to Amanda Palmer’s powerful and thought-provoking open letter about artistry, impending motherhood, expectations, work and fear.
- Over at Flavorwire, I lusted over Beautiful and Playful Bookcase Staircase Designs. Ones like this:
Gorgeous!
