Friday Celebrations

This image seemed most appropriate to use given we’re now in winter and Melbourne is shrouded in clouds today.

What am I celebrating/enjoying this week?

  • The latest ‘self-made success from self-publishing‘ story in the Guardian. I know there’s the saying ‘Don’t read the comments*’, but when this topic arises I can’t help myself. They’re often a fascinating blend of hopeful, optimistic, embittered, desperate, realistic and knowledgeable opinions about the writing/publishing process.*The comments to which I refer, in this instance, were those going around on social media in response to the piece.
  • How are Libraries Doing Around the World? Basically, not too bad. Hooray. (This doesn’t mention Australian statistics, sadly.)
  • We went to see the stage show Matilda: The Musical last weekend. I was the only person in the household without knowledge of the plot heading in there (I know! For shame!) so I really enjoyed that added element of discovery and anticipation.

It's happening!!

What are you celebrating this week?
