MS summer cycle

Adam and I have registered to ride in the 2009 Melbourne Summer Cycle. It is in aid for MS and their goal this year is to raise $350,000 and already they’ve past the $150,000 mark. It’s a 40 km ride around Melbourne, which includes going over the West Gate Bridge.

And for those of you who haven’t been to Melbourne means riding over this:

WGB

I’m not looking forward to that part.

Adam and I have been trying to do moderate training when time allows. My legs are getting some definition, but my knees ‘crackle’ badly. Damn those extra 22kgs I put on with Riley’s pregnancy; my knees will never be the same again. I even had a session with a personal trainer the other weekend, because I could not understand just why when I hit the 15 km mark on the exercise bike, that’s it. I’m done. Can’t go any further.

Um, as it turned out, the short answer is, “Because you’re unfit, you’re doing the wrong exercises for cardio improvement, and your posture is atrocious.” On the plus side, it turns out I have great flexibility through my chest. I can barely touch my toes, but I can clasp my hands behind my back and lift them up past my shoulders. Why I’m sure it’s that talent alone whic has got me this far in life 😉

With a new training schedule, I just hope we’re prepared in time.

If not, I fear I will require a medic!

The terrible outfall from the bushfires continues and there are lots of fantastic projects and acts of generosity going on right now. One I will mention is that on FRIDAY (13th) Coles will donate the profits of the day to bushfire relief. So everyone save up your grocery shopping and DO IT THEN. Pass the word!
