Boy, Friday rolls around quickly! Another week, more things to celebrate! Let’s get started.
- So this happened:

- There’s still things I need to insert and change, and no doubt many darlings will be killed along the way, but the novel draft is finished! That 20K by 20 June incentive was just the push I needed. With a bit of addition/editing/subtracting, I think that I came within a whisker of the 20K (probably more like 19K), but it’s done!
- This brings me along to my second win. I’ve changed the title of the novel. The original one didn’t work for some editors who have seen/heard about it over time. That was hard to hear because I find titles hard and I really liked my original one. Then early this week, as I was sitting at the table writing, a phrase popped into my head and I jotted it down on the notepad you see above (along with other scribblings I make as reminders). I didn’t think much of it at first, but I kept looking back, each time it grew on me more and more. So I think this is it.
- I went along to the Voices of 2015 Kidspot breakfast and masterclass last Saturday and it was wonderful to catch up with friends.
- Keira has officially moved up to Scouts now after being ‘chased out’ of Cubs.
- I strongly recommend this Guardian profile on the new US poet laureate Juan Felipe Herrera: “Poetry is one of the largest, most beautiful, most intimate and most effective ways of participating”.
- With the passing of screen legend Christopher Lee, a lot of people are discovering the rich and amazing life he led and here are 22 Incredible Facts about it.
- This has been my ear jam this week: Led Zeppelin’s A Whole Lotta Love and Madonna’s Justify my Love mashup-ed together.
