christmas-card-challenge-2016

It’s time again for the Christmas Card Challenge!

I’m proud of the legacy of this (humble) little annual fundraising drive, but let me explain if you’re unfamiliar with what it does.

Once upon a time, I used to write Christmas cards. But the paper waste bothered me (yes, I know they could be recycled). Then in 2008 I got the idea to hold a digital ‘Christmas Card Challenge’. I would donate the amount of a postage stamp for each individual commenter who had commented since the previous Boxing Day. It’s important to me to contact people and pass along seasonal wishes while also saying thanks for the continued blog support.

That money is then deposited into a savings account I created to work towards one of my ‘Living List’ goals: To provide money for a study scholarship.

This is where 2016 is different. You’ve probably noticed that I’ve changed commenting systems and this new one doesn’t track email addresses. So, in light of that, I’ve been left uncertain as to how I could do the challenge and the best alternative is to ask people to sign up to my newsletter. Don’t worry, it’s not the kind of newsletter where you sign up and then get a half dozen autoresponders with various spammy/salesy messages. Nope. No way – I hate them. With mine, you’ll get one autoresponder, yes – but that gives you an ebook!

Also, I only send it every 2-4 weeks!

Will you accept my invitation? Please do!

Here’s the link again.

What about those of you who already subscribe to the newsletter but would also like to participate in the challenge? Just hit ‘reply’ on the newsletter I’ll be sending out on Christmas Eve. You don’t even have to say anything (but it’d be nice!)

If you have any questions, please let me know! Thank you x
