Much has been said against the Productivity Commission’s report last week recommending the lifting of parallel import restrictions, thus jeopardising the Australian publishing industry and potentially the livelihood of authors.

My friend and independent bookstore owner asked me to co-write a petition to our Prime Minister and she has given me permission to post these here so other interested booksellers may use them.

We created two versions:

1) A longer version which explains the major points of the report for readers who might not understand its full implications: Here it is (.doc)

2) A shorter version, bullet pointing the major points: Here it is (.doc)

I hope they are of use. I know she’s already getting signatures.

If you use the petition, or know someone who does, please tell me know in the comments. As always, comments are encouraged.
