It’s been a while since my last Thrifty Thursday installment and there are two very good reasons for this:
1) I haven’t been shopping much
2) The second-hand offerings have been poor when I have managed to go.
This is what can happen at op-shops, of course. Then at other times you have a great day and you walk out with an armful. Well, a few weeks ago, I finally had one such day. You can see below:
The photo of the black dress does it no justice. It’s the first dress in a long time, perhaps ever, that has actually sat where its supposed to on my hips, therefore giving them actual definition. Considering I am short-waisted, some of you might know just how happy that makes me feel. The Etam top (french!) is lovely and I will be able to wear it in winter if I layer it over a plain black long-sleeved shirt. The sequin top might be the weakest buy, for although it is hip, that is almost somewhat the problem – what’s hip this season, may not be in later ones. Believe it or not, I do try and think these things through, rather than grab stuff off the hangers in mad lust (although I have done the latter – and have regretted it. I might have to devote a post to the ‘fails’ at some stage!)
Now we get to the contentious purchase:
A Julius and Friends green and white hoodie that is surprisingly warm. Adam dislikes it. Actually, that would be an understatement.
“It’s a Christmas cardigan. Christmas. Look at the reindeers! You look like… you look like… you know. Mr Darcy. In that movie…”
“You mean him?”
“Yes. HIM.”
So now whenever I wear it (which is often) I am lovingly called, “Ms. Darcy.”
I don’t know about you, but I can live with that.
