It’s going to be a busy blogging day today, so I’ll jump right into the news.
First, I have a guest post up over at Problogger called ‘5 Blogging Lessons From NaBloPoMo ‘. This was the post I mentioned I was going to write about #nablopomo and #nanowrimo last month. It seems so long ago now! I intend to put some of these practices to work in January as I need to get a few things done. If you’re new to Miscellaneous Mum today, hello and welcome!

Speakers were announced during the week for the upcoming Digital Parents Conference in March 2012. I’m excited to be able to say that I will be on the ‘Blog to Book’ panel with Kylie Ofiu and our moderator will be Valerie Khoo, founder of the Sydney Writers’ Centre. There are a lot of subjects and things to cover! I’m looking forward to it.

A couple of weeks ago I was interviewed by Tim Lince for Influencing.com.au about blogging and branding. Since then the interview has been re-posted about the place, including at Trevor Young’s blog PR Warrior. Several people mentioned to me that they couldn’t read the Influencing one for some reason, so I’ve included Trevor’s link to follow if that is still the case.
I think the ‘Blog to ###’ theme growing; whether it’s to books or brands (or ‘fame’ or ‘career’ – any number of words could be applicable) it’s becoming obvious that when once blogs might’ve been their own reward or market, now for ambitious people they are a component of a wider, marketable spectrum. It’s the place, the very interface, where the audience both reads and makes purchases. It’s a fine line to straddle – how does one both entertain and entice people to spend money? It’s just one question of many about this subject.
I also talk a little about what I’m hoping to do in the future. Try to take over the world? No, that would be copying Pinky and the Brain. You’ll have to read the interview to see.
