If my Twitter stream is anything to go by – and it usually is – then a great many people here in Australia are returning to their desks today to resume work after several festive weeks of relaxed debauchery (if debauchery can be deemed ‘relaxing’, I suppose). If you find yourself in such a position, I offer my sympathies, should they be necessary.

Here, at home, things are rolling on as usual. By ‘usual’ meaning in the ‘if you don’t stop fighting and I have to raise my voice just one more time no one is going to be happy‘ way. Oh, I know. I sound grumpy. I caught a lurgy on the weekend. SUMMER COLDS – WHAT FUN!

But I’m better today – well, better enough to whinge and my mother always said that was proof of recovery. While I’m here I’ll fill you in briefly on those extra ‘living list/ one recipe a week’ contenders to bring us up to date.

Sushi

That’s right – sushi. All bragging rights go to the maker of the box this kit came in, true, but I’ll still count it. My mother and Keira have made sushi before, but this was my first foray into the process. As you can see, my rolling technique needs improving.

Triple chocolate muffins

I’ve made chocolate muffins before, but these are George Calombaris’ triple chocolate muffins from his Georgie Porgie – For kids aged 8 to 80 cookbook and I thought it’s George! This recipe will surely be different and distinctive and good!

And – ah. No. None of us liked them.

They rose nicely and look edible, but something was wrong and Adam – who considers himself a sweets connoisseur – can’t even figure out what happened. Oh well, win some, lose some!

1 New Recipe A Week

These are week 10 and 11 of the 1 recipe a week for a year ‘living list’ challenge. (10 & 11/52)
