Many (most?)(I’m not up-to-date with the news yet) teachers are striking in Victoria today. Good luck to them too, I salute their efforts. Although this does mean that I have two children here at home: two healthy, active, energetic delights when I am still feeling delicate and sore.

I don’t really want to dwell on that latter issue any more than I already have because I dislike being in any sort of self-pitying mindset, however it has to be said that I’ve spent a fair bit of the past few days feeling exactly like that. To get over myself I took us all out to the library a little earlier and I took my sweet time browsing the shelves, pulling down book after book, piling them higher, because I’ve always found that kind of literary gluttony soothing.

I also watch YouTube videos like this:

The 50 Greatest Movie Freakouts of all Time. The Dark Crystal‘s Fizzgig FTFW.

Simple pleasures, really.

Instagram caption: The single moment they’ve not fought all day. True.

A more amusing curiosity that I have to share – this, found in Savers: an Aliens board game! For ages 7 and up! That would’ve FREAKED ME OUT as a kid!

What do you do to cheer yourself up? I’m open to suggestions!
