It’s taken Adam and I almost seventeen years to admit to ourselves that we have a book collecting problem. I almost typed ‘hoarding’, but don’t believe that’s quite right. How can books be hoarded? That’s like spitting in the eye of the knowledge and delights they provide to their lucky owners. Or would provide, if they were read. And here we arrive at the crux: what good are they doing us packed away, not seeing daylight for many years – some since when we first moved to Melbourne.

I’m going to write more about this elsewhere, in a more ‘thinky’ way, so lets instead focus on what’s on offer. After deliberation, fighting, pulled muscles from shifting and sorting these are the books we’ve decided we can live without (albeit reluctantly). Even better, we’re going to offer them up to anyone who might like one/some/all.

There’s literary fiction, classics, commerical/trade, high fantasy, space opera and non-fiction on offer. Probably others, I’ve just lost count!

If you click through to Flickr you’ll be able to see these in a much bigger format if you need, but hopefully they’re pretty identifiable from the spines here.

Books 3

(Including The Warlord Chronicles by Bernard Cornwell, the complete trilogy)

Books 2

(Perhaps the hardest to give up, What to Expect When You’re Expecting. No more babies *sniff*)

Books 5

That’s right all twelve of Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series, including #1, a gift from an ex-girlfriend of Adam’s. That’s how long back we’re going, people. There’s eight Terry Goodkind’s (the bottom two are a little obscured).

Books 1

You like David Gemmell? David Eddings? David Brooks? We have them in spades.

Books 4

Terry Pratchett up the top, Robin Hobb on the bottom, along with other fine choices.

Okay, now the hard part: pricing and shipping!

How about you make me an offer dependent on what you’d like to get? That sounds simple, yes?

Now for pick up – I’d be happy if you wanted to come pick them up off me from where I work in the city? At least until the end of July, when I finish up. The centrality might help those of you who live in Melbourne (of course, if you live out my way we can also work something out). We can figure out postage too – I’m pretty sure that might work out if I box a lot up and I can get them couriered for a reasonable price.

If anything takes your fancy, or you have any questions, leave a comment or if you’d rather email me at contact [at] miscpress dot com dot au

Phew! Tiring stuff.

And for those of you who might be wondering – yes, we’ve still kept a shitload (I’m sure that’s the proper definition – certainly an indicator, anyway).
