Short Biography

Karen Andrews is an award-winning writer and author. Her work interrogates the nuances of creativity and the complexities of contemporary family life. She has contributed to publications throughout the country and when she isn’t writing she is obsessing about libraries, where to travel next in the world and how she’s going to store her massive book collection.

Long Biography

Karen Andrews is an award-winning writer for her short story writing and poetry. She is the author of Trust the Process: 101 Tips on Writing and Creativity (2017), On The Many Shapes Bodies Will Take (2017), Crying in the Car: Reflections on Life and Motherhood (2012), children’s picture book Surprise! (2008) and was the editor/publisher of the critically acclaimed anthology Miscellaneous Voices: Australian Blog Writing #1 (2010), which was the first trade release book of its kind in Australia.

She has been blogging at her website (karenandrews.com.au) – and formerly known as ‘Miscellaneous Mum’ – since 2006, making her one of the country’s most established and respected parenting/personal bloggers. She lives in Melbourne with her family, but grew up in a small country town on the mid-north coast of New South Wales. An early passion for Gothic Literature saw her pursuing this interest through a Masters thesis, but this is just a facet of her voracious reading tastes. Instilling a similar appreciation of reading and books in her children (and others) is one of her lifetime goals.
